Gerbrand Burger is an artist based in Amsterdam, initiator of WAAR and owner of Gerbrand Burger Studio.
Central themes in his work are mutual perception of cultures, notions of place and location, migration and identity. These themes are explored in various media like film, photography, drawing, installation and objects. See for examples of work under projects in the menu on the left hand side.
Gerbrand Burger Studio integrates the development and production of artistic projects with a wide range of services for galleries, museums, collectors, artists and art institutions.
These services include:
- consultancy during development and realisation of exhibitions and art presentations
- production of art projects and individual art works
- art handling, arranging of shipping and storage, production of shipping crates
Gerbrand Burger likes to be involved in the conceptual stage of projects, while keeping a close eye on the practical implications of plans in development. This enables a smooth and efficient production phase and flawless results, from the planning of the exhibition architecture to the construction of it.
Previous clients include Anything is Possible, De Veenfabriek, Van Gogh Museum, Susan Etkin Enterprises, Productiehuis Rotterdam, Gasthuis Theater en AG Wunderbaum. As an artist and freelancer Gerbrand Burger worked for the Venice Biennale, Stedelijk Museum, De Ateliers, De Appel, Van Gogh Museum, Galerie Juliette Jongma, Galerie Paul Andriesse, De Nieuwe Vide and others. Gerbrand Burger worked on projects for artists Germaine Kruip, Fiona Tan, Aernout Mik, Falke Pisano, Liam Gillick, Monica Sosnowska, Lily van der Stokker, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Henri Jacobs, Giny Vos and Mariana Castillo Deball.
